This 5 week project is an exploration on the topic of loneliness through methods from System Oriented
Design. The aim of the project is merely to understand the concept of loneliness as a
whole, in order to find areas where design interventions can happen. The empirical foundation of this
project is found through literature, existing research projects and through a series of workshops with a
focus group, designed and facilitated by me. The focus group consists of 6 women between 21-38 years
old based in Oslo. The project resulted in a visual gigamap that explains loneliness through a variety of
perspectives, and points to areas of interventions where design solutions can help people out of a state
of loneliness.
